1966 October - A Theatre of our own.

Facing the possibility of seeing all their hard work go to waste, the determined pioneers of the Rainham Amateur Theatrical Society took the momentous decision to buy the building themselves and agreed to pay £4800 for The Oasthouse over a period of 16 years. Their first mortgage payment of £25 was made on 1st October 1966. At last the RATS had a Theatre of their own.
