Do you have any of the following skills?
If you can answer 'yes' to all of these questions then you will be very welcome to join the Box Office staff. There are two parts to this job and you can choose to do one or both parts.
Firstly, there is the acceptance of bookings. These can be made by post to the theatre and by telephone to your home (we remind our patrons of the etiquette of trying to phone only between certain hours so that you are not tied to you home for weeks on end!). You will need to mark off a seating plan for the required night and take the customer's name and contact number. On the evening of the performance, you will need to take the appropriate seating plan to the theatre (by 7:15pm) ready for the second part of the job.
The second task involves meeting the public, giving them their tickets, taking their money, sorting out any problems, and cashing-up. You will need to be at the theatre between 7:15 and 8:15 for this job.
Don't worry - you will be given training for both tasks. It's usually a good idea to try and do the training for the second task on three consecutive evenings since it helps to reinforce both your confidence and the procedure.
As a regular member of the Box Office staff you soon become known and you in turn get to know both members and regular patrons. It is not a job everyone can stand and can be quite hectic as curtain-up time approaches but can be very rewarding if it all goes well!
